Southampton, N.Y., August 1st, 2009. Southampton Hospital celebrated its Centennial ‘100 Years of Healing’ with the 51st Annual benefit held in the customary grand white tents on the corners of Wickapogue and Old Towne Roads. Guests were requested to dress in 1900’s white. Christie Brinkley, Honarary Chair of the prestigious event spiced things up like a bright ray of sunshine in a beautiful yellow gown. Christie was ‘on’ with her beautiful million dollar smile that was sincere as she enthusiastically greeted guests showing her support for the hospital.
Benefit Chairperson; Sheila O’Mally Fuchs was radiant in white with a black sash. Many of the guests dressed for old world charm and grace; The beautiful Janna Bullock was escorted by R. Couri Hay, Joy Marks and Cassandra Seidenfeld Lyster came in white period gowns complete with traditional umbrellas helping to create the ambiance of a time gone by. Master of Ceremonies was Chuck Scarborough. Some of the guests in attendance were Howard M. Lorber, Lydia and Rudy Touzet, Jaen Shafiroff and family, the ever talented artist Hunt Slonem, James and Whitney Fairchild, Mr. and Mrs. Broadway; Stewart and Bonnie Lane along with the Nederlanders, Christina Greeven Cuomo, Dan Rattiner, Steve and Heather Mnuchin, Lucia Hwong-Gordon, Ramona Singer, Jacqueline Murphy Stahl and many physicians, board members and supporters of the hospital.
Southampton Hospital has been in existence since 1909. The evening’s dinner benefited the emergency room that is in much need of funding. Did you know that First Lady of the United States Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and her sister Lee Radziwill were born at the hospital, also artist, Ian Hornak died at the facility? It is a member of the Stony Brook University Medical Center. The hospital admits more than 6,000 patient/year and has about 26,000 emergency room visits (with half being during the summer season.) If the walls of Southampton Hospital could talk what a tale they would tell. Patients and visitors to the hospital have consisted of world leaders and pillars of society, celebrities, and just regular folks.
The event was a success and the evening was laced with elegance. Guests ate, drank and danced the night away under the stars to The Alex Donner Orchestra .
